DTN COMMENTS:  The country is very quiet this afternoon with asking 
prices in the South noted around $240-plus, but they are still not 
established in the North. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed 
until Thursday or later. 

Today's slaughter totaled 122,000 head, 4,000 more than last week, but 
3,000 less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed mixed, live futures 
were mostly modestly higher, up 35 to off 17, while feeder issues ended 
the day mostly modestly lower, off 20 to up 12. Beef cutouts are expected 
to close mixed with good box movement.
